The perfect snow holiday.

Yama HQ, (meaning mountain headquarters) is a quirky, newly renovated house nestled in the forest of Niseko’s famous backcountry. It is the perfect base for shredders looking for the ultimate Japanese powder experience with close access to all the local resorts and backcountry zones. It is also a great place for families wanting to experience real Japan away from the tourists, with a plethora of nearby onsens to choose from, space for the kids to play and great local restaurants.

It is 2-story and sleeps 6 comfortably across 3 bedrooms. There is also room for 2 more with space on the couch or a futon on the office floor. We charge a small amount for these additional guests just to cover additional linen and utilities usage. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs (one with an additional study) and the kitchen, lounge room, toilet, bathroom, laundry and entry room (known as a genkan) downstairs.

The third room is located just next to the central house in a converted container. This is affectionately referred to as the Habitat. It has its own reverse cycle heater/air conditioner and is arguably the best room in the house with a beautiful view back into the snowy forest.

The images display all the beds made up as doubles, but Japanese bed technology allows us to split these into singles to make every room a twin room. On booking, just tell us how you would like the beds arranged and we will organize it for you.

Great areas to snowboard.

I've been to Niseko quite a few times and it was really great to stay here near Rankoshi with easy access to great food, Onsens (hot springs) and great areas to snowboard. Elsie was extremely helpful and kind. The house was tastefully styled, clean and had everything we needed. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Snow lovers paradise.

This was a truly exceptional experience. Elsie’s home is very special and super welcoming. She is easily the best host we have experienced. The home is a snow lovers paradise. It was perfect for our two families of four and the location meant we could explore lots of different ski resorts over our 8 night stay.

Kids loved it.

"Fabulous place. Obviously ideal for snowsporters but we were there just to enjoy the house and the snow. Kids loved it! Could let them loose in the area around the house without worries. I did loads of cooking and reading... All perfect."
